GVK makes a choice with Julie Genovese

The last time I had Julie Genovese, author of Nothing Short of Joy, in the studio, we talked about be~lie~f systems.  The beliefs that hold you down or back or hostage.  Today we talked about the opposite.  Because once we realize that it is our beliefs that are working against us, then we can choose to change them.

My son always gets annoyed with me because I believe we can change anything.  He says that he lives in “reality” (hahaha, teens know Everything!).  Well, I lived in “reality” for a long, long, very sad time and today I live in what I call “possibility.”  So much nicer!!

Why is it so hard to believe that good things will happen?  Well, I suppose if you read the newspaper and watch the news and pay attention to world events even a little bit, you will be mired in fear.  And what if you don’t even do those things?  What if you carry the sad events of the past around like a comfortable old friend.  You know, the friend who likes you just a bit unsteady so they can feel better about themselves?  Yeah, that friend.  I sure did loooove that friend for a long time.  I carried that brutal teen story with me, nurtured it, and fed it.  Because of that teen experience, I believed that all of life was a scary place so I carried that fear with me.  I projected it out and I perpetuated it with my energy.

I didn’t even know that I was creating a universe of fear ~ the very thing I was trying to get away from!  I believed that I was alone, even though I had been receiving Divine messages since my earliest childhood memory!

So! we are at this place where we have to make a decision ~ are we going to believe things to keep us in the state of fear which keeps us in the grip of ego and away from the Divine? or are we going to look really look and really listen to the Divinity that is all around us?  Are we going to choose to believe in the things that support us or diminish us?

Today, and for many years now, I choose the Divine as a conscious practice.  From there, and only from that place of Divinity, can I then perpetuate and vibrate out love and truth.  My truth?  That’s going to be different than your truth, but, the Truth of the Divine is always love and that love is available 24/7 and it is our birthright!

So take some time listen to the podcast and start practicing beliefs that support your joy, that support your essence, and that support the love of the Divine and then just watch how your life transforms…

GVK explores the bs of beliefs with Julie Genovese

Belief Systems, or BS, as our dear friend Julie Genovese, likes to call it and I wholeheartedly agree.  As my spiritual practice deepened, I noticed that I would say things and not know if that was how I truly felt.  So, I started exploring my thoughts, and most of them were about my own self, and discovered that most of those beliefs were placed there by another.

We come into this world ready and excited for the human adventure.  We are fresh from our Higher Self, All That Is and our Guides.  We are shiny and prepared.  Then life begins to happen and all the things we knew before we came drift away. We get caught up in the drama unfolding.  We experience pain, sorrow, love, joy, disappointment and triumph.  And we be~lie~ve that this is all there is.  We be~lie~ve the stories that people tell us about ourselves and forget that we are Divine.

Well, my friends, it is time to REMEMBER!  Take a look at those dusty and moldy ideas that others put upon you and Know your Divine Self.  Who put them there and when? More often than not, you will find that the be~lie~f is one from a very young and tender age. Throw it all out and start fresh from the viewpoint of Divinity.  From that place, you will come to know your worth.  You will come to understand how sacred your journey is and that no one can have this particular journey besides you.

Doing this type of thinking, living, Being takes practice at first.  Always it takes consciousness.  We must be aware of how we represent our energy in the world because what we put out in the world is the only true thing that we have control over…xoK

So often we hear these wonderful stories of people living amazing lives and moving past their pain, but, we never really hear How they do it.  And here, Julie gives us a “how to” which I found extraordinary!

When I was struggling with the pain of my teen experiences, I wondered if I would ever heal. I kept asking why things had happened the way that they did.  Why, and then poor me. Sigh. And then one day, I got angry. And boy, let me tell you, when that came out, it was like a monster.

Anger was the first way that I moved myself out of victimhood. But, I had to move on from that because underneath the anger was an immense sorrow.  And frankly, the sadness was more profound than the anger.  I once told a therapist that I was afraid to feel all the sadness in my heart because it might actually kill me. She assured me that it would not (thankfully she was right!).  Slowly, step by step I moved through a series of feelings that lead me to the f word ~ FEAR.  Transmuting fear was not something I did alone. I had Divine guidance and help all along the way because by this time, I was deep in my spiritual practice.

One of the things that I learned on my path of healing was to see my life from a different perspective.  What had I gained from all of this? How could I use what I felt to help others? I learned to lean on a Power greater than myself to help me reveal the Truth of my life. And I learned to not only share my truth, but to listen to others who also had Truth to share. Julie Genovese is one of those people. So listen with joy and relish a method of healing that she is sharing with us today…

GVK and Julie Genovese, delve into the Divine ~ part 1

GVK  and Julie talked at length about staying connected to the divine while we live our busy lives. This topic will come up often because of how busy we truly are. Whether we are parents of children, parents to animals, helping our older parents, practicing our career choices or any of the other katrillion things we focus on, How do we get still? How do we hear the still and Divine voice within?  Julie brought up the very excellent and True fact that each experience in life brings us closer to being on purpose. When I look at each job, each experience (even the painful ones!) and each person I see how they have added to the fabric of my tapestry of life. Remembering that fact helps me stay connected because I Know that it is all interwoven. And when I Know that in my heart, then I can continue to shift my focus to the Light or to the Divine. And I have learned, it is a choice. But, no matter what the choice is, each one brings in rich experiences and we add it into our information file of being human. I have definately chosen to walk away from the Light in my life. I needed to experinece that as a soul to understand the contrast between Light and Dark. I also needed to understand and learn to love my own Dark parts so that I could integrate them into my Light. Here is a list of some of our favorite spiritual leaders that we reference on the podcast:

Abraham Hicks, Wayne Dyer, and Thich Nhat Hanh

GVK & Julie Genovese – shifting perspectives

I am so happy to have Julie Genovese, author of Nothing Short of Joy back on GVK!

Julie has a great phrase called ~ going to the “Spiritual Pub”. Meaning that we go to a place in the spirit realm to pick different things that would be interesting or growth experiences for the soul. For her it was dwarfism. She thought that would be a great adventure as she was looking at her choices up at the “pub”. Yet, when she got here, she forgot that she thought it would be great and got mired up in “being different” and then explored the feelings of that for a time. Of course, then comes the shift in perspective! Looking at a situation from our Higher Self experience can shed light on our choices and bring more peace.

I love the spiritual teachings of Pemma Chodron which help us see life in a different light and therefore give up the illusion of separate~ness. I feel that we have contracts with people to help us along our path to enlightenment here. Those people seem like the least likely to be our “helpers”, but, their interactions in our lives bring about the most profound awakenings. There have been so many times that I have wondered “why would I pick this!” so, believe me, it is not always easy to see the Higher view on these things!! Meditation and prayer help me tremendously. And I am blessed to have friends and a fabulous husband who help me stay balanced. They give me a safe place to bounce ideas and feeling off of. And it is always wonderful to meet someone like Julie and fold her into my circle…

Julie Genovese author of Nothing Short of Joy (podcast)

Julie Genovese, author of Nothing Short of Joy and I talked about NOT being a victim and truly loving who we came in to be. We marveled at how a cheerleader (me) and someone born with dwarfism (Julie) can still both be bullied and in my case, brutally. We explored how our shared experiences lead to her writing and my performing pieces that have a universal theme for our audiences. The themes of moving through the challenge, rising above the pain and pushing out the fear to create a beautiful life.

Julie’s book is delightful and inspiring as she shares her struggles as a little person and how she came to Love the body she is in. She looked to Wayne Dyer and Ester Hicks (Abraham Hicks) for inspiration and guidance. Read this book!!!! and bring Julie’s energy (which is nothing short of joy!) into your life~
